Support is the word in my mind today. Who are we putting our support on? So oft we put our support on people around us.
Which is nothing wrong. Jesus called his beloved disciple to take care of his earthly mother when he was at the cross.
“When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.” Jn 21:26-27

More importantly, our inner support should come from God, the creator the universe. My Lord and my saviour.
Earthly support, even our closest ones, will cause onself to be discouraged. I can’t blame them, afterall, we are human. Frail, weak, anxious, concerned, worried, etc.
I just have to blame myself, for I am weak. But the bible promises “Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor 12:10. The keyword there is “for sake of Christ”. Am I? Yes. Whenever I want to do more for Christ, I’m being constrained even more. Woe unto myself. I need Jesus evermore to bear me over.

Putting service to God aside, day to day experiences….
When my entire world falls apart, I know Jesus is there.
When people around beat me up, I know Jesus is there.
When people around bear me up, I know Jesus is there.
When people around put me down, I know Jesus is there.
When people tears me down, I know Jesus is there.
When I know I am weak, I know Jesus is there.
When I get sorely discouraged, I know Jesus is there.
When everybody has left me, I know Jesus is there.
When everybody blames me, I know Jesus is there.
When everybody laughs, scorns, mock me, I know Jesus is there.
When I need help, Jesus is a prayer away.
When I am sorrowful, and nobody to talk to, I know Jesus is there to hear.
Jesus is good. He is an ever faithful friend.
Jesus is my support, the support of my soul.

Psalm 23
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside
3 the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths
4 of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
5 with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest
a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest
6 my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in
the house of the Lord for ever.
Three Hymns comes to my mind:

1. WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear
May we ever, Lord, be bringing all to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship will be our sweet portion there.

2. JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE
I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Refrain

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Refrain
3. IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
… Lord, lead my footsteps. None of myself, but all of you.
