On Sin

On Sin

… to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 1 Sam 15:22

Somehow I was contemplating on sin recently.

Sin has left a crimson stain. Sin is about missing God’s mark. Sin is about the original sin of disobedience from Adam. Sin is about our daily disobedience. Sin is something that we cannot avoid 100%, but with much discipline and obedience can be minized.

I wonder what is God’s perspective of sin? Scary.
Have you search into scriptures what happened to the people who disobeyed God?
. Cain was banished.
. God commanded the Isarelites to utterly destroy on route to the promised land.
. The civilization was destroyed in the flood (Noah’s Ark)
. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed.
. Egyptians ten plagues
. Israelites not allowed into promised land and wandered till all died
. Saul’s kingdom was removed
. Israelites sent into captivity
. the list goes on

Of course the most recent and probably the most visible, the sufferings and pain of Jesus Christ who became our sin substitute to the cross. He was rejected, by God. Punished, scourged (different from being whipped), and nailed to the cross. God’s the father full wrath was upon Jesus.

Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. – Heb 9:22

God demands the perfect sacrifice, unblemished – Jesus.

What about our good works?

Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
1 Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Isa 64:6 … all our righteous acts are like filthy rags

Hymn: Jesus Paid it all

I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
Close sheltered ’neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down
All down at Jesus’ feet.

Additional thoughts:
Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)
[13] He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

1 John 1:9 (KJV)
[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
