Not Hear

Not Hear

“Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.” (Jeremiah 11:14).

This passage and it’s little expository caught my eyes. From LAB, “At first glance this command is shocking – God tells Jeremiah not to pray for the people and says he won’t listen to the people if they pray. A time comes when God must be just. Sin brings its bitter reward. If the people were unrepentant, and continued in their sin, neither Jeremiah’s prayer nor those of the people would prevent God’s judgement. Their only hope was repentance – sorrow for sin, turning from it, and turning to God. How cam we keep praying for God’s help if we haven’t committed to him, not when we selfishly hang onto our own selfish ways.”
