The change which our Lord here declares needful to salvation is evidently
no slight or superficial one. It is not merely reformation, or amendment,
or moral change, or outward alteration of life. It is a thorough change of
heart, will, and character. It is a resurrection. It is a new creation. It
is a passing from death to life. It is the implanting in our dead hearts of
a new principle from above. It is the calling into existence of a new
creature, with a new nature, new habits of life, new tastes, new desires,
new appetites, new judgments, new opinions, new hopes, and new fears. All
this, and nothing less than this is implied, when our Lord declares that we
all need a new birth.
~ J.C. Ryle

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13).

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.” (James 2:17-18).

Can a Christian says he is a Christian yet not showing any signs of regeneration of the Holy Spirit? Jesus wasn’t kidding when he said ‘YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN’. No this is not referring to reincarnation, nothing of that sort. Rather, your present life, a soul which was dead in sin, now alive in Christ.
“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. ” (John 3:7).

So how do I know I’m born again or a person has been spiritually regenerated?

Using a practical illustration in our day to day life.
Can a child say he loves his mum yet
1. disobey mum
2. Refuse to listen to mum
3. Not acknowledge the relationship
4. defiance
5. Does not talk to mum
6. List goes on…
Now substitute mum for God and Jesus. Do you exhibit similar traits? If u love your mum? What will you do?

Many says they love, very few show they love.

Fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is the gift of God, and it’s a singular fruit, not fruits. So one will have all the traits of the Fruit of the Spirit as revealed to us in Gal 5:22.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23).

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. ” (John 14:15).

No, this is not about legalism, but the natural regenerated will of the Spirit to keep God’s commandment. The Spirit will guide us, and we have conscience. Harden not our conscience to the Spirit.

“Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” (Ephesians 4:28).

God will never turn anyone away. As long as one desires to seek and repent, God will be just to forgive. And forgiveness is found thru Jesus Christ. One needs to recognize the that oneself is a sinner, incapable of doing any good. Yea, may will say I’m good, don’t kill, don’t murder, don’t etc etc… Sin is more than don’t. It’s sin of ommision and commision. Sins that you incur by not doing or doing something. Yes, we are all sinners as revealed to us in the bible. No need to proof otherwise.

And if you are a sinner, you need Jesus. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ” (John 3:17-18). “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32).

Do not be decieve. Repentance is a change of heart and mindset, no a point in time u said I’m wrong, I believe, I confess, thus I’m saved. Even a thief does recommit crimes and get charged again. Repentance is permanent. If one loves children, he’ll hate abortion. If one loves work, he’ll hate laziness. If one loves God, he’ll hate what God hates.

We are reminded by Jesus, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. ” (Matthew 7:21).

Someone asked a pastor, I believe in Jesus(so do the devils) but I just do not have the relationship, I don’t think I’m born again even tho I’m baptized!! Yes… It’s far too common. Men cannot read the heart, but God does. Then how? Either he stop seeking God and go back to his old ways, or keep pleading with God for the relationship and turn from his old ways by the power of the Holy Spirit regeneration.

As the hymn writer writes in the hymn Fountain of blood, ‘Saved to sin no more’. NOT sin no more to be saved.

May God help us. To God be the Glory for great things he hath done. All glory be to the Father, son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

One Response to “Regenerated”

  1. 1 Jn 4:20
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
