Soul

Proverbs 19

2Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
8He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
15Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
18Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Interesting. Realise I did not update my blog yesterday. I means I had been rather busy and left out my update!!
Today’s text is on “Pro 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” Although the daily devotion is on a single verse, I took my own liberty to read the entire chapter. It is usually good for several reasons: context, and you read more, learn more, know more!

I noticed Proverbs 19, out of 29 verses, 5 verses talks about soul. That is almost 1/6 of the chapter.
What does it mentions about on soul?
v2 soul be without knowledge, it is not good;
v8 getteth wisdom loveth his own soul
v15 idle soul shall suffer hunger.
v16 keepeth the commandment keepeth his own sou
v18 let not thy soul spare for his crying (crying son being chastened)

It is the numerous soul that led me to study more on “soul” and what does it refers to. Using Strongs, looks like the soul in the bible can be used for several things as listed above.

Interesting. 🙂
