Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Anybody who has experienced the saving grace of Christ, definitely there’s a change in life. Some subtle, some more obvious. The first change would definitely be towards God. The word of God changes life. Some struggle with the change. It’s probably due to unfamiliarity of the life.

Just as one who had been living in darkness. The moment when he step into the light, it’s only natural that he starts squinting. That is where a choice is immediately presented to the man. Do you want to step into the light? Endure tha pain in the eyes and move on? Or immediately retreat back into darkness and be comfortable?

In the book of Dan 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Note the word “Purposed”. It did not come naturally, but rather an intentional commitment. Much likened to if we “Purposed” to walk in the light. However, God created us in a marvellous way such that we will adapt to the new environment after awhile. Meaning the uncomfortable feeling of being in the light will soon become a norm, for some a joy.
