Actively Happy

What is it to be Happy?

We have a movie by Will Smith and his son starring in the movie “In Pursuit of Happiness”. I don’t think his happy. I wonder how people can be happy. Is it a natural state of mind of it is a consciuos state of the mind? Former is natural, while latter is un-natural. Un-Natural means oneself consciously says, I’m Happy because I should be? But deep in the heart, he is unhappy. Thus he is in a state of unhappily happy? Or Happily Unhappy?

Or could this be from the devil? To make one who is happy in the Lord to become unhappy? Distracted. Unfocussed. Cares. Concerns. Discouragement. Past failures. Past Experiences.

Let’s look from a different angle:
Can a runner run faster by not actively running faster?
Can a person be more knowledgeable by not actively seeking?
Can a person be full by not actively getting food? (Open Mouth to eat is an action)
Can a person be wise by not actively exercising wisdom?
Can a person be in Christ by not actively seeking Christ?

As one can be born with certain characteristics, can unhappiness be a trait of a person? Thus he needs to be put in more effort to be happy?
Does that means to be happy = effort?

Just as water is a natural state in hot countries, while ice is not.
However Ice is a natural state in cold countries, while water is not!
Yet in whichever region, ice and water can be formed by consciously changing the state of environment.
Does this means happiness is “a state of being“? Can environment is a factor?
But we know from above scenario, the state can be changed irregardless of environment, but environment do play a part?

What does the bible says about happy?

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit -ARISTOTLE
