Baptism

Baptism

So what is the BID DEAL with Baptism, is Believing not enough?
Believe is enough. After believe, next logical step is baptism if you can. Unless something untoward happened like death (the thief on the cross), surely the believe in Jesus will save you. Otherwise, the next step is Baptism to publicly declare your Faith in Jesus.

Let me paraphrase this.
What is the BID DEAL with Marriage, is LOVING him/her not enough?
In the current loose morale society, maybe sadly accepted. But in the correct morale society or by law, NO!
The next logical step for 2 couple who are in love with each other, committed to each other would be marriage!
Publicly declare you love, commitment, etc to your spouse!

Through marriage, it opens up to a horde of opportunities and enhances the couple relationship even further!
Let’s just list some LEGIT Stuff. We do not want to dwell on illegitimate stuffs.
1. Legitimate Sex (Yes, Sex is designed by God, only within the confines of marriage)
2. Housing Benefits
3. Legitimate Childbirth (Your children have legitimate Married Father and Mother)
4. Free from social stigma (Be legit)

Sadly, illegitimate stuffs ie Pre-marital Sex, Petting, Fondling, cohabit, etc are being glorified these days.
Even if married, all these should be within the confines of your private rooms. Not in public.

Ok so those are some of the horde of benefits, what else?
COMMITMENT! Marriage declares your commitment to your spouse and to the world.

You will surely be worried if the person does not want to be married.
It is not “If you love me, let’s have sex.”
IT IS “If you love me, Let’s get married” Then sex.

Ok, looks like I’m diverging, back to “So what is the BID DEAL with Baptism, is Believing not enough?”
I take the summary here http://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-baptism.html

“Christian baptism is, according to the Bible, an outward testimony of what has occurred inwardly in a believer’s life. Christian baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Bible declares, “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:3-4). In Christian baptism, the action of being immersed in the water symbolizes dying and being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

In Christian baptism, there are two requirements before a person is baptized: 1) the person being baptized must have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, and 2) the person must understand what baptism signifies. If a person knows the Lord Jesus as Savior, understands that Christian baptism is a step of obedience in publicly proclaiming his faith in Christ, and desires to be baptized, then there is no reason to prevent the believer from being baptized. According to the Bible, Christian baptism is important because it is a step of obedience—publicly declaring faith in Christ and commitment to Him—an identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.”

I’ll add on here:
1. Rom 6:3-4
3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2. John the Baptist, sent by God, who came just before Jesus declaring Mark 1:4
“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”

3. Acts 2:38 And Peter said unto them, Repent ye, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

4. Mat 28:19 Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

5. Baptism is a commandment from Jesus. Jn 14:15, Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments”.

6. Jesus himself was baptized by John.
Matthew 3:13-16
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

7. Ephesians 4:4-5
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

8. I Peter 3:21
This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you also – not the removal of dirt from the body, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, it saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

9. Colossians 2:12
and you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

10. John 3:1-5
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

11. Mark 16:16 – He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

12. Acts 2:38 – Repent and Be Baptized for the Remission of Sins.

13. 1 Peter 3:21 – Baptism Saves Us.

14. Galatians 3:27 – We Are Baptized into Jesus.

14. Acts 22:16 – Be Baptized and Wash away Your Sins.

There are many things in Christ that perhaps cannot be done unless onself is Baptized such as to name a few
1. Holy Communion
1 Cor 11
The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

2. Church Services
One cannot be involved in certain service for Church unless onself is baptized. Such as Deaconship, Pastoral vocation, leadership, roles.

3. Teaching
I do not understand how one can be a teacher without being baptised. Can you teach on the topic of baptism without being baptized? Ask your own conscience.
The Holy Spirit will convicts.

4. Evangelism – We can be calling to Christ, what’s next? Baptism. Are you baptised? No.

Yes, one can be saved, but not yet baptised. But baptism should come quickly after Faith in Christ.

There.. Baptism.
