Mary, Matha and Jesus

Luke 10:38-42 (King James Version)
38Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

This is interesting. An account of 2 ladies, one who is sitting at Jesus feet listening to his teachings, while the other is busy with the cares of entertaining the guests, with much preparations. Frankly, I really do not know how to react to this. What happens if everybody just stop serving the guests? What will happened to the guests? Or Mary perhaps knew her priority and decided to be with Jesus while she let someone else handle the cares of this world? What about inviting all the guests to come to listen to Jesus as well? Seriously, I do not know how I will react. This is such a common scenario isn’t it? Even in our busy life, do we stop and spend some time with Jesus? Do we pause to pray? Do we enjoy the Sabbath and Worship God?

Who would you want to be? Mary at Jesus feet listening or Martha who is busy running around? I’d choose to be Mary.
