Ten Commandments

The bible is there for all to read. Young and old. You do not need to be a degree or doctorate holder to read the very truths of God. Ain’t no rocket science. In fact is more than science. It is the very word of God. Godly Science if you ask me.

Ten commandments. I know about the Ten Commandments. There is only one God, love your God, Honor Sabbath day, love ur parents, etc. Frankly, all these years, it has been through my ears oh so many times, but it has never convicted myself as much.

There is already so much about the 10 commandments, so why bother writing another? Why not?

So here goes with a prayer to God as I share my thoughts. No I’m not going to write a book. Just a short thought on the Ten Commandments. May all reader benefit from God’s Commandments.

The Ten Commandments are given by God himself to his chosen servant Moses on Mt Sinai. Where Moses came face to face with the Glory of God in a shining light. There Moses carved out the commandments on stone. This is recorded for us in the Old Testament Book of Exodus 20.

ONE: ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.’
TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image–
any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.’
THREE: ‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your
God in vain.’
FOUR: ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’
FIVE: ‘Honor your father and your mother.’
SIX: ‘You shall not murder.’
SEVEN: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
EIGHT: ‘You shall not steal.’
NINE: ‘You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor.’
TEN: ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you
shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male
servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his
donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.’

The first 4 Commandments refers to our relationship with GOD.

The remaining 6 refers to our relationship with everything elses.

GOD FIRST
Pretty simple ain’t it? The structure is very straight forward. God First, then everything elses. In fact, God first should be our way of life for everything. Ask anybody, usually most people who God first tends to work things out in Godly manner.
I know some will debate back on “that’s not true”. We’ll save that for another topic on JOB and WHAT Goes Wrong when we love and put God first. For now, we talk about Ten Commandments.

1. NO OTHER GODS
ONE: ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.’
I love plain English. I cannot t

2. NO IDOLS
TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image–
any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.’

3. RESPECT GOD NAME
THREE: ‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your
God in vain.’

4. SABBATH DAY
FOUR: ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’

5. HONOR PARENTS
FIVE: ‘Honor your father and your mother.’

6. NO MURDER
SIX: ‘You shall not murder.’

7. NO ADULTERY
SEVEN: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

8. NO STEAL
EIGHT: ‘You shall not steal.’

9. NO FALSE WITNESS
NINE: ‘You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor.’

10. NO COVET
TEN: ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you
shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male
servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his
donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.’

As I write this simplified list out, I thought it is useful to list in the simplified form.

1. No other gods
2. No idols
3. Respect God’s name
4. Sabbath Day
5. Honor Parents
6. No Murder
7. No Adultery
8. No Steal
9. No False Witness
10. No Covet

I guess this is a good start, as I want to share the same with my children too.

God Bless!
