Today, a similar article was posted on Straits Times Papers.

Children beating up children. Parents nagging, provoking children.

Several Verses Comes into mind:
Ephesians 6 opens with a direct message.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Single Sentence, straight to the point.
Who? specific audience = Children.
What? obey your parents in the Lord
Why? for this is right.
When? in the Lord
“Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath” (Ephesians 6:4).
“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” (Colossians 3:21)
I suppose Fathers literally means Fathers, but the teaching is applicable to mums and parents alike.

 Ephesians 6:1-4
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Looking at the sequence, looks like the priority is on
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Meaning be forgiving to your parents, patience.

And latter, a clause too to the parents “ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath”
So it works both ways. The parents cannot go away scot free claiming that their children is disobedient, or parent abuse if they had been provoking the children. And if children abuse the parents? refer back to “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.”

God Help us. Amen.
