The Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it.

The Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it.

There are many things in the bible that are probably not applicable in our modern days of living on the New Testament, in the days of our Lord Jesus Christ even the indicators of our calendars years are AD, In the year of the Lord. Before was BC, Before Christ.

There are some dogmatic arguments from some people such as “the bible says that slavery is acceptable, only way to God is through high priests. Sacrifice lambs, etc. ” these are history which in fact I’m happy to read and know with excitement how our forefathers lived. I do not imply that all are not applicable. With a little bit of common sense and guidance from the Holy Spirit, you’ll have the discernment on what’s applicable and what’s not. The ten commandments are still very applicable. Eitherway, I believe the bible is the very word of God. Since it’s the word of God, there is no harm in believeing it. In fact by not believing, it probably bring more harm.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

1 Tim 4:13
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Romans 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Seriously, nobody have to convince anybody to read the bible. Similarly, nobody have to convince anybody to believe in Jesus or the gospel. We are commanded to go out and ” 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” from Mark 15.

See? No need to convince. Do your job and share the gospel, let the holy spirit do it’s job to convict the heart of the listener.

Well, the bible says it, not me. And I’m going to believe it. That’s settled.

Reprobate Mind

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” (Romans 1:28).

What is Reprobate?
A google shows from www.thefreedictionary.com/reprobate

n.
1. A morally unprincipled person.
2. One who is predestined to damnation.
adj.
1. Morally unprincipled; shameless.
2. Rejected by God and without hope of salvation.
tr.v. rep·ro·bat·ed, rep·ro·bat·ing, rep·ro·bates
1. To disapprove of; condemn.
2. To abandon to eternal damnation. Used of God.

I’m a dumb person. Meaning I take literally what I see and read. If it reads good, it means good. If it reads bad, it means bad. More so if it is from the Bible. Sometime, where things are not too obvious, pray for wisdom and ask God to open our eyes and mind to seek the truth. Thank God many things in the bible is straight forward. It’s either Yes or No. Occasionally, Maybe. Always get it from the “Horse Mouth”, which is the Bible.

I do not understand why people wants to twist and turn God words to please people! Are we God pleaser or crowd pleaser! BEWARE!
There will be many false prophets and teachers who appears wise and of spiritual authourity that come forth and teach false teachings, twisting God’s word.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” (2 Peter 2:1-3).

I’m not a Pastor nor a “trained” theologian. God’s words in the Bible are generally simple enough for all whose mind had been opened by those who seek him to understand. More so, ask for wisdom and guidance. Ask. Ask. Ask. Check. Check. Check.

The Visible Invisible

“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (Romans 1:20)

Ever imagine how a criminal department is able to piece up the numerous evidences to re-enact a crime scene to come to a conclusion at the very least what occured at the crime scene? Even the fact the the participants of crime is not there? And how the criminal cannot make excuses due to the factual evidences?

We all learnt too that for the things that we cannot see is there, such as air. For a fact we know it existed because we breathe and live on it.

We know that there are many microscopic living things that cannot be seen with our naked eyes, but we know they existed.

For the very same reason, we know God existed because of the very evidences of things around us. The air, the Sun, the Moon, the solar system, the 4 seasons, the disasters, etc. All these shows God exists, and are all under the control of our awesome God.

May we be constantly reminded of the presence of God. He is Omnipotent, Omniscience, anything else? To keep it simple Omnieverything. Omni means All.

Omnipotent – All Powerful
Omniscience – All Knowing
Omnipresence – All Present

All Glory and Honor unto Him who lives forever more, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Ten Commandments

The bible is there for all to read. Young and old. You do not need to be a degree or doctorate holder to read the very truths of God. Ain’t no rocket science. In fact is more than science. It is the very word of God. Godly Science if you ask me.

Ten commandments. I know about the Ten Commandments. There is only one God, love your God, Honor Sabbath day, love ur parents, etc. Frankly, all these years, it has been through my ears oh so many times, but it has never convicted myself as much.

There is already so much about the 10 commandments, so why bother writing another? Why not?

So here goes with a prayer to God as I share my thoughts. No I’m not going to write a book. Just a short thought on the Ten Commandments. May all reader benefit from God’s Commandments.

The Ten Commandments are given by God himself to his chosen servant Moses on Mt Sinai. Where Moses came face to face with the Glory of God in a shining light. There Moses carved out the commandments on stone. This is recorded for us in the Old Testament Book of Exodus 20.

ONE: ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.’
TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image–
any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.’
THREE: ‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your
God in vain.’
FOUR: ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’
FIVE: ‘Honor your father and your mother.’
SIX: ‘You shall not murder.’
SEVEN: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
EIGHT: ‘You shall not steal.’
NINE: ‘You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor.’
TEN: ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you
shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male
servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his
donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.’

The first 4 Commandments refers to our relationship with GOD.

The remaining 6 refers to our relationship with everything elses.

GOD FIRST
Pretty simple ain’t it? The structure is very straight forward. God First, then everything elses. In fact, God first should be our way of life for everything. Ask anybody, usually most people who God first tends to work things out in Godly manner.
I know some will debate back on “that’s not true”. We’ll save that for another topic on JOB and WHAT Goes Wrong when we love and put God first. For now, we talk about Ten Commandments.

1. NO OTHER GODS
ONE: ‘You shall have no other gods before Me.’
I love plain English. I cannot t

2. NO IDOLS
TWO: ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image–
any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth.’

3. RESPECT GOD NAME
THREE: ‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your
God in vain.’

4. SABBATH DAY
FOUR: ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’

5. HONOR PARENTS
FIVE: ‘Honor your father and your mother.’

6. NO MURDER
SIX: ‘You shall not murder.’

7. NO ADULTERY
SEVEN: ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

8. NO STEAL
EIGHT: ‘You shall not steal.’

9. NO FALSE WITNESS
NINE: ‘You shall not bear false witness against your
neighbor.’

10. NO COVET
TEN: ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you
shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male
servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his
donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.’

As I write this simplified list out, I thought it is useful to list in the simplified form.

1. No other gods
2. No idols
3. Respect God’s name
4. Sabbath Day
5. Honor Parents
6. No Murder
7. No Adultery
8. No Steal
9. No False Witness
10. No Covet

I guess this is a good start, as I want to share the same with my children too.

God Bless!

Children beat up parents

I wrote about this similar article sometime back, 20090624.
http://ymsim.wordpress.com/2009/06/24/let-parents-be-warned/

Today, a similar article was posted on Straits Times Papers.
http://www.straitstimes.com/Singapore/Story/STIStory_396638.html
Children beating up children. Parents nagging, provoking children.

Several Verses Comes into mind:
Ephesians 6 opens with a direct message.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Single Sentence, straight to the point.
Who? specific audience = Children.
What? obey your parents in the Lord
Why? for this is right.
When? in the Lord
“Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath” (Ephesians 6:4).
“Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” (Colossians 3:21)
I suppose Fathers literally means Fathers, but the teaching is applicable to mums and parents alike.

 Ephesians 6:1-4
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Looking at the sequence, looks like the priority is on
1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Meaning be forgiving to your parents, patience.

And latter, a clause too to the parents “ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath”
So it works both ways. The parents cannot go away scot free claiming that their children is disobedient, or parent abuse if they had been provoking the children. And if children abuse the parents? refer back to “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.”

God Help us. Amen.

Reading the Bible

How do u read the bible? I read it in electronic format. Ie on my Nokia e71 cellphone. I have daily email reading subscriptions from:
1. Live BP Church on ‘Our Daily Homily By F.B. Meyer’
2. Our Daily Bread
3. Free Bible Email. NIV. KJV. Daily devotions.

I enjoy gaming too. Console games, PC Games etc. And God says, do u lay up ur treasure on earth or in heaven? Laying my treasures on earth cud refer to:

Spending money and tons of time
1. Gundam building and beautifying them.
2. PC games
3. Console Games

Indeed Bible reading is probably the most cost efficient and the most rewarding activity from God.

Yet the most correct thing to do is also the hardest thing to do.

God help us as we continue on this Pilgrim Journey.
